Come and See, directed by Elem Klimov - 1488 Words

Those that engage in the activity of war can be noted as mad and insane, but some individuals may also be considered brave souls, and that all depends on the select few that dare to go through with the entire process of being involved in such a feat. The forces in the war who only murder to get a rise out of and who continually toy with the on-lookers can be portrayed as mad and insane, while those who decide to join the noble partisans, despite perhaps even being drafted, to play their part in war were considered to be brave young soldiers. This was exactly the case in Russian director Elem Klimov’s 1985 film Come and See. The main character, Florian, a boy of fourteen years, is dragged into a war by the force of the Belorussian†¦show more content†¦The only thing that results from the act of war is endless violence and death, and that in itself does not seem very kind to the average being, despite having to deal with it, and accepting the fact that actions such as t hat would happen in society no matter what is a difficult task that not only the average being, but also the everyday pacifist and everyone alike, no matter what the circumstance or situation, all should know of the truth that goes on in the world, no matter how much it hurts, because it must learn to be accepted by each and every individual sooner or later. The ironic style of Crane’s writing is an element that needs to be given closer and further inspection and examination until one finally reads between the lines and sees what Crane is trying to state. His last line of the second stanza of â€Å"War is Kind†, which is refrained a second time at the end of the fourth stanza, â€Å"A field where a thousand corpses lie† (Crane 11, 22) can reflect back to Come and See, with both the bodies in the back of Florian’s house and the villagers that were burned to death in the barn. The way the brave army soldiers and noble partisans are portrayed in Come and See shows them as serious individuals that would do anything to win what could be considered the most important war of their entire lives, let alone, just a simple fight. They are portrayed as warriors that will continue to strike until the bouts
